Conductor, James Wood says:
“Ian Wilson’s new work for the National Chamber Choir of Ireland and sean-nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird is based on the dialogue between the Beloved and her Lover in the Song of Songs. These exotic and sensuous poems have inspired composers for centuries, and in this programme you can hear contemporary settings of these celebrated poems not only by Ian Wilson, but also by Elaine Agnew and Daniel Lesur set against Palestrina’s classic and timeless settings of the very same texts. The programme is complemented by Rhona Clarke’s setting of The Kiss by Ulick O’Connor.”
With the kind support of The Cathedral Church of St John the Baptist and St Patrick’s Rock, Cashel
This peformance will be recorded for broadcast by RTÉ Lyric fm
